I agree with you regarding RAW processing with Affinity Photo, however, they have a beta v.1.7 out now which has improved that significantly. But if you use Luminar (or ON1, or DXO, etc.) for file management and RAW editing and still want to have a Photoshop-type program available (without paying Adobe), I think AP fills that role very well. They have something in the works, but aren't saying when it will see the light of day. Affinity's biggest gaffe IMO is lack of any semblance of a file/asset manager. I don't see a difference in the U.I., but I can tell it is different under the hood, and I think 1.7 is a really solid program now. ![]() They claim to have re-written the RAW processor, as well as a lot of the adjustment algorithms. But, i will not buy further version or photoshop (i dislike to have to pay each month).I agree with you regarding RAW processing with Affinity Photo, however, they have a beta v.1.7 out now which has improved that significantly. and i continue to use PHOTOSHOP (old CS5 version). I have already tested ON1, LUMINAR 2018, AFFINITY. Luminar 2018 is a “monster” of an upgrade, truly amazing! We’ve worked very hard on this and not only will your photos open and process 200% faster, they’ll have even more tone details and color, better/faster noise reduction and advanced sharpening. One of the most exciting improvements has been a significant update to our RAW engine. Of course, we think you’ll use them less and less once you taste the power of Luminar… Plus, Luminar 2018 can also run any of your existing Photoshop plug-ins for even more options. Interoperability was also a goal, so you’ll find a new LUT Mapping filter which opens up a whole new world of cinematic effects from the video world, and many others. We’re happy to report that these can now be adjusted easily using the new Lens Correction and Transform tools. Sometimes, the type of lens you shoot with and the angle, creates lens flaws and perspective issues. Hue Shift is just plain fun for subtle color shifts to the massively dramatic. Dodge & Burn is a standard darkroom technique used to artfully and selectively refine the light and shadows of a photo. And, the incredible look of a matte finish is super-inspiring. The ability to add artificial light to any image completely changes the game. Our engineers were not interested in resting on their laurels, so the R&D guys dug deep to invent the new Sun Rays, Matte, Dodge & Burn and Hue Shift filters among others. And don’t forget, when you buy Luminar 2018, YOU OWN IT. Our pre-order began this morning with a low price of $59 and a terrific pack of bonuses including a 1-year SmugMug Power account for your best online galleries ever.
